Chiyogami : Middle size
This is a Chiyogami of Fujin-Raijin. Fujin-Raijin-zu-byobu (folding screen) is a national treasure of Japan which is entrusted to the Kyoto National Museum form Ken-nin-ji temple. It is believed that Sotatsu Tawaraya who was an active painter in Edo period, painted this folding screen. However, he is a mysterious figure because no one knows exactly when he was born and when he died. In this picture Fujin, who is the spirit of the wind dashes out with a bag containing the wind, Rajin, who is the spirit of thunder, acts violently with his cloth streaming in the wind. They look scary, but humorous.
